They should trade it away like Dallas did in the 90’s to get more picks and then use them wisely like the Cowboys did. Those picks help them win 3 superbowls.

I think they should trade it down and pick up several quality players. Guys like Laurinitis will be around in the late first early second round, and guys like Javon Ringer might be around as late as the 4th round. They could pick up 3 guys that could play right away by trading that one pick.

Clark Kent. He’s the only guy who can help right away. I don’t know who they should take, but they shouldn’t take any of these QB’s who may come out. Especially Sam Bradford. He won’t be of any help and will get beaten to a pulp before his 22nd birthday. The Lions are going to need several good drafts and success in free agency to turn the team around.

A wide receiver. Ok, just kidding.
They should take Stafford or Bradford and look to trade him for multiple picks. Good, perhaps great, defensive players can be had later in the draft. What the Lions need is a complete overhaul on defense. Pick Bradford and then move down with multiple picks.

I’m not trying to be a so hear me out !!!
With the ownership change going on in Miami , Bill Parcells has the option of leaving if he wants to . I think the Lions should do whatever they can to get him . There is no one who can turn around a team like he can . With him in charge it will be the best draft the Lions have ever had .

I know he’s last on the mock draft, but They Should pick Percy Harvin

A great possibility, would be to check with The Eagles who have 2 picks in the first round. If they were agreeable, you might be able to get their picks at 22 and 27 and a solid veteran DB for that 1st pick. Detroit has the 20th pick also and the OT Loadholt from Oklahoma at 6′8 350lbs should be available. 22 and 27 could be DE Nick Reed out of Oregon and DT Terrence Cody from Alabama. Moving the team is not going to make it better. There were some solid efforts this year by rookie QB’s but that is not the way to go with a good number of veterans coming available.

The problem, because of all the rookie salary issues, and the fact that CBA doesn’t expire till NEXT season, means no one will be willing to trade for the number one pick. So Detroit is essentially stuck with it, and if they screw up they’re really screwed.
If Parcells came on board (which he won’t mind you because he’s committed to Miami) he would have likely gone either offensive line or defensive end in the first two rounds.
Knowing WCF he’ll prolly go for the sexy pick first round and pick Stafford. Stafford runs an essentially pro offense, doesn’t have a sick offensive line like Sam Bradford (which lifes waay easier for him, mind you) and plays some legitimately good defenses (tops in the country). Not to mention, he has a cannon for an arm and above average touch. Him and Megatron would be best buds.
Also, considering the SEC has all the manner of disruptive defensive tackles, ends, and linebackers (sack happy dare I say?) I’m pretty sure Stafford won’t panic if some dude busts through the Lion’s line (which I’m sure will happen often) and will calmly go to his hot route or toss it away. In terms of being battle-tested, Stafford can do more while under duress.
Second 1st round pick HAS to be a lineman. They got Gosder Cherilus, and with a good pick, they have their bookend tackles for about a decade.
Then the rest I suppose is just drafting defensive lineman and a secondary. Their recieving core is pretty solid, and Kevin Smith is an underrated running back with great hands.

they should draft Andre Smith or Micheal Oher and trade up with the pick from the Cowboys with the cheifs and draft Sam Bradford.
